Belgian city police committed a serious mistake during a large counter terrorism exercise organized in a hall complex Sportpaleis, Where two citizens who were in a car in the vicinity were considered “terrorists” and were arrested at gunpoint and pulled from the car handcuffed, the Gazette van Antwerp reported on Thursday.

“This should not happen, the prosecution and the internal inspection department are investigating the incident,” the local police spokesman said.

The Belgian Interior Ministry announced that it would officially apologize to the victims after a foreign citizen announced on social networking sites denouncing the unequal treatment by the police.

“At least two agents asked me if I was part of the exercise and told them I did not know anything, that I was innocent and did not know what was going on,” the victim said.

The man adds that not only the police but also many witnesses have photographed the facts and calls for as many images as possible for this “alleged arrest”.

During the counter terrorism exercise, an exchange of fire was simulated in a show attended by some 1,100 people.
