France’s Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said Tuesday that the cause of the fire, which has hit the Notre-Dame Cathedral, one of the most famous landmarks in central Paris, is still unknown and the authorities are continuing their investigations into how the fire broke out.

“The fire is under control, but it has not been completely extinguished,” Nunez told a news conference in front of the cathedral.

A massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral last night was damaged as its roof was damaged in an accident that struck France and the world shocked.

Firefighters managed to save the two main bell towers and exterior walls from collapsing before controlling the fire.
