Five people were killed and two seriously injured in an explosion at a fireworks factory in Sicily, Italy.

According to the Italian emergency authorities – local media outlets on Thursday reported, workers may have caused the explosion by mistake while using welding equipment.

The safety of working in fireworks factories in Italy is controversial, and explosions of fireworks factories have killed 68 people since 2000.
