Strange storms and flash floods in Italy, following heat waves last week, took three lives at the weekend, including a woman trapped in a mini cyclone near Fiumicino airport.
During the incident, the 26-year-old woman was driving home at 2:00 am local time on Sunday, but the hurricane caused her car to be lifted and thrown into the road divider.
In the north of the country, a 45-year-old Norwegian who joined the marathon at the Dolomite Mountains died after lightning, running at a height of 2,000 meters late afternoon.
Meanwhile, in Arezzo, south of Florence north of the Tuscany region, a 70-year-old man died, yesterday after his car was swept away by a flash flood.
The emergency services found the victim’s body in a mud-filled canal.
