British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Friday that Britain would leave the European Union (EU) by Jan. 31 at the latest if the Conservative Party wins a majority in elections in two weeks.

“If we can get a working majority, we will reach the exit point on January 31 at the latest”, Johnson said, adding that he saw no reason to extend the transition period after the Brexit until the end of 2020.

Asked whether he would prefer to be prime minister or leave Britain for the EU, he replied: “I’d rather get out of the EU, I can tell you this”, Johnson said.
