German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Sunday she would meet British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday evening to discuss Britain’s planned exit from the European Union, adding that Berlin was also ready for any consequences.
Johnson is seeking to persuade EU leaders to resume talks on withdrawal or endure the outcome of the EU’s second-largest member on October 31 without a deal easing economic shock.
“We are ready for any result, and we can say that, even if it is done without agreement. But in any case, I will seek solutions until the last day of negotiations,” Merkel said at a meeting at the chancellery.
“I think coming up with an agreement is always the best,” she added.
