The Spanish Civil Guard announced on Sunday the dismantling of a large drug smuggling network in the south of the country, led by a hidden Moroccan with the title Messi of hashish, the Spanish media reported.

Since the start of the operation in February, Spanish police have arrested 45 people and issued arrest warrants for 16 others, including a network commander, Spanish civil guard spokesman said on Sunday.

The spokesman pointed out that Messi of hashish has long been hidden while leading this network from abroad, but many the prominent aides have fallen into the hands of the authorities.

The Messi of hashish, his real name Abdullah al-Haj was arrested in November 2017 and then obtained conditional freedom after a judicial agreement, before losing its impact again in March, according to the same source, the police have dismantled one of the most important organizations operating in the region of the Great Valley, according to Spanish Civil Guard statement.

Valley river is used by numerous drug traffickers to bring their products to southern Spain, the gateway to Moroccan hashish to Europe.
