Turkish Foreign Minister Mouloud Gawish Oglu said on Tuesday that Ankara’s acquisition of the S-400 defensive missile system is a settled deal, despite Washington’s efforts to persuade Ankara to buy the US Patriot system instead.
US and NATO officials have warned Ankara that the Russian system cannot be integrated into the alliance’s missile system and that the purchase of the S-400 would weaken Turkey’s acquisition of F-35 fighter jets from Lockheed Martin and could lead to US sanctions.
