Ukraine appeals International Tribunal for the release of its sailors detained by Russia

“The Foreign Ministry is on an additional request today to the International Maritime Law Tribunal to take binding measures towards the Russian side to release the Ukrainian sailors,” Ukrainian President  Petro Oleksiyovych Poroshenko said in a statement. Russia to release the sailors during the coming period.

In the same context, the Russian Prosecution appealed to the Court of Lefortovsky in Moscow to extend the detention of the 24 sailors detained for investigation for “illegally crossing the Russian border”.

On November 25, Russian border guards detained three Ukrainian ships with their crews after entering Russian waters in the Kerch Strait near the Crimean coast.
