UNICEF sends humanitarian aid for Donbass

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has sent six truckloads of humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian eastern province of Donbass.

“Six United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) trucks crossed the Novotrietskoye transit point en route to Donbass, and humanitarian assistance was transferred in the form of building materials to the residents of Donetsk and Luhansk,” the agency’s Information Office said in a statement on its website”.

In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities began a military operation against the people of the two republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, which have declared their independence unilaterally. According to the United Nations, more than 10,000 civilians were killed in the conflict.
