44,000 Brazilian troops deployed to limit Amazon fires

Brazilian Defense Minister Fernando Azevedo said on Sunday that about 44,000 troops had headed for six Brazilian states to fight the Amazon forest fires.

According to Brazil media, Azevedo explained that the army forces will conduct unprecedented operations to control the fire in the Amazon forests in response to the requests of the six states (Rorma – Rondania – Para – Tocantins – Aker – Mato Grosso).

The Brazilian Minister of Defense to the participation of two aircraft “Hercules 130” in extinguishing these fires, where each aircraft can throw about 12 thousand liters of water on the fires.
