The Ukrainian army announced that it had responded to an attack on the town of Schastia, stressing that it had killed 50 Russian mercenaries and that 7 Russian planes had been shot down that raided targets in the country, including the capital, Kyiv.

The Russian Defense Ministry had warned that videos had been prepared in advance to fabricate civilian deaths in Ukraine and posted on social media.

A statement by the Russian Defense Spokesman, Igor Konashenkov, drew the media’s attention to the fact that the Ukrainian security forces were working to carry out provocations similar to those carried out by the “White Helmets” in Syria.

He said, “Fake videos were filmed in Ukrainian cities showing casualties among the civilian population of Ukraine, and these videos are being disseminated through channels operated by the Ukrainian authorities in Telegram and in social networks.”
