Boris Johnson to convene G7 meeting on Afghanistan

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that he will meet with the leaders of the Group of Seven countries, on Tuesday; To hold urgent talks on the situation in Afghanistan.

It is important that the international community work together to ensure safe evacuations, prevent a humanitarian crisis and support the Afghan people to secure the gains made there over the past 20 years,” Johnson said in a tweet on Sunday.

It is noteworthy that the Taliban had controlled most of Afghanistan within only 11 days, and entered Kabul last Sunday after Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled to Tajikistan, coinciding with the withdrawal of US forces from the country.
