“We have been suffering from a drought for two years,” Governor Gavin Newsom said in a press conference, expressing his hope that Californians will maintain the spirit they enjoyed during the recent drought and voluntarily reduce water use by 15%, not only in households but also in the industrial, commercial and agricultural fields.

It is noteworthy that after several years of low amounts of rain, dam reserves in late May in California were estimated at two-thirds of their normal level. The situation was exacerbated by a heatwave witnessed last week in parts of the western United States and Canada.
