The Cambodian government has decided to lift the ban on direct flights from Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, expressing its aspiration to reopen the economy in phases after controlling the Covid-19 crisis.

This decision is effective immediately,” the Cambodian Ministry of Health said in a statement noting that “with the approval of Prime Minister Hun Sen, the Ministerial Committee to Combat Covid-19 decided to lift the ban on direct flights from Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, in an effort to reopen the country and resume economic activity in all sectors including aviation and air transport in the context of COVID-19.”

The decision came just a day after Hun Sen instructed relevant authorities to consider the possibility of resuming flights from ASEAN member countries to welcome tourists and investors.
