Polling stations have closed in much of Canada, scores of seats are beginning to trickle in from the Elections Canada, while voting continues in British Columbia in western Canada.
Counting of votes is already taking place in Atlantic Canada, where polls have been closed for more than two hours.
Early results from the district’s 32 seats suggest that the Conservatives are on the cusp of some seats in this election, meaning Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau may struggle to get the majority government he wanted when he called this election more than a month ago.
The Atlantic has been a stronghold of liberals in the last two elections, the party swept every seat there in 2015, losing just five seats in 2019.
According to unofficial counts: Trudeau is leading with the votes for minority government.
