IT exports to be increased to $15bn, Fed. minister tells ITCN Asia 2022

ITCN Asia 2022, a platform for promoting Information Technology (IT) and guidance to the new generations, kicked off on Wednesday. The three-day event, organized by Ecommerce Gateway, will continue till August 26, 2022.

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Syed Amin-ul-Haq inaugurated the exhibition and conferences. Speaking on occasion, he informed that as per the instructions from Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, a plan was being devised to increase IT exports. “A target of $5 billion IT exports has been set for the next year, while the same will be increased to $15 billion in the next few years”.

The government is evaluating attractive incentives for the industry such as regulatory reforms and tax exemptions. Certain other recommendations are also under consideration. Moreover, Cyber Security Policy and Personal Data Protection have also been finalized,” the minister said.

He informed that initial viabilities had already been finalized for the development of IT Parks in Karachi with an investment of Rs31 billion, and the project would be launched soon.

The minister said that with the cooperation of Sindh University, IT courses had been started at various institutes in Hyderabad.

Syed Amin-ul-Haq maintained that IT Surveillance Data had also been developed to make Pakistan a crime-free state. “The Smart Policing initiative of Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication is being expanded across the country to compile a complete profile of criminals as well as maintain a computerized policing system.”

He acknowledged the devastating civic infrastructure in Karachi and expressed his remorse for the losses caused by flash floods in the province. Amin-ul-Haq called for unified efforts by all political parties to rehabilitate the affectees.

ITCN Asia 2022 organized by Ecommerce Gateway is also hosting seminars and conferences on several important subjects such as crypto, eCommerce, software development, startup, robotics, retail-tech, and ad-tech. World-renowned experts will share their insights on the prevailing trends and opportunities in the world of IT.

Over 1,500 brands representing 800 companies will participate in the exhibition span over four halls. The event will open scores of startup opportunities.

Vice president of Ecommerce Gateway, Umair Nizam, said ITCN Asia 2022 will be unique in many aspects this year. In view of post-pandemic global dynamics, the exhibition and conferences will benefit the new generation.

Umair Nizam expects that over 50,000 people will attend the 3-day event.
He acknowledged the assistance and support of the Federal Technology Ministry in holding the event.

Three-day 21st ITCN exhibition with unique features will also host robotics competitions.
