Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said that the value of Japanese exports of agriculture, forestry, and seafood exceeded one trillion yen (equivalent to 8.7 billion dollars) for the first time this year.

“We want to boost the growth of the agriculture, forestry, and fish industries by integrating demand from overseas markets and stimulating regional economies, ” Matsuno said at a press conference.

Commenting on the total value of exports between January and November, which amounted to 1.06 trillion yen, Matsuno added that the figure was “a result of the joint efforts of government agencies to boost exports.

It is worth noting that the Japanese government has set targets of 2 trillion yen in exports for 2025 and 5 trillion yen in 2030, with Japan focusing on expanding exports of its premium products.
