Arab News cites a statement by the OIC’s Independent Human Rights Commission that the organization, along with the international community, has condemned security restrictions or curfews and restrictions on communications in Kashmir by the Indian military, which were implemented during the Aidiladha celebration.

“Local and international media have widely reported that the people of Kashmir have been prevented from performing their solemn prayers at the Jama Mosque in Srinagar and several other mosques, fearing a protest from the government.

“This unreasonable and unreasonable act of restraint prevents the people of Kashmir from performing their religious ceremonies, thus infringing on the right to freedom of religion, including the right to teach and practice it guaranteed under Clause 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights , Declaration of Elimination of All Forms of Absence and Discrimination by Religion or Belief and other international human rights laws, ”it said.

The OIC in the statement also urged the UN Secretary-General and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to intervene, including urging the Indian Government to withdraw the curfew in Kashmir and restore freedom to the people of the region.

“In welcoming the UN Secretary-General’s statement on the current situation in Kashmir (IOK), we urge him and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to urge the Indian Government to immediately release all political leaders and other political prisoners, while respecting their right to assemble. safe.
