Russian boxer, Maxim Dadashev, died of serious injury he suffered after a fight in Maryland, the Russian boxing federation said today.

“Maxim Dadashev died in the United States due to injury after fighting with Subriel Matias,” said the sports federation in a statement.

The 28-year-old was forced to undergo an emergency brain surgery in Washington after fighting with Matias from Puerto Rico on Friday.

It is understood that the super-lightweight category fight was stopped in the 11th round.
