Facebook announces new update to reduce misleading health publications

Facebook has begun to address publications on nutrition, health and deceptive fitness on its platform by preventing its appearance in the news feed, revealing two updates to reduce publications on health and the sale of health products and services.

For the first update, we will deal with any misleading publication of unlicensed health drugs or that exceed their therapeutic expectations. In the second update, we will consider whether a publication promotes a health product or service, such as medication or pills that are said to help lose weight,” Facebook news feed stated.

“We will identify commonly used terms for tracking health publications and promoting health products,” news feed said.

According to Facebook, there will be no change to the rest of the pages as a result of this update, stressing that fake health publications will be reduced vision on the home page, Facebook said: “If the pages stopped misleading the publication of this content, will not be affected by the publication of this change.”
