Facebook has secretly developed small-scale drones that can transmit data to people with bad Internet connections in remote locations. Reports indicate that the unmanned drones currently being developed are the size of birds.

According to the British Business Insider website, the project is called “Catalina”, a confidential internal project in Facebook’s contact unit. It is part of the company’s efforts to connect the Internet to people around the world. Unmanned fixed- Storage is capable of storing various media such as video clips and images.

The efforts demonstrate how Facebook explored ready-made concepts in its attempts to connect people around the world to the Internet for the first time and to develop the Facebook user base around the world. It appears that even as the company declined in June to build an unmanned aerial vehicle Aquila to provide Internet connectivity to emerging markets, the company was also considering other less conventional air routes to provide communication solutions.
