Hackers targeted hundreds of thousands Asus users

Kaspersky Lab has revealed that a group of hackers targeted “hundreds of thousands” of Asus computer owners by pushing the software update tool from the computer maker’s back-end servers.

According to the Indian TOI website, the attack took place between June and November 2018, according to Kaspersky. Hackers were targeting an unknown group of users identified by the MAC addresses of their network adapters.

The report said that more than 57,000 Kaspersky users installed the successor version of ASUS Live Update, which is responsible for the breach, the company did not respond to the request to comment on this matter.
