Twitter has a feature called “Lights out” which is currently available for iOS, while Lights out will be available for the Android platform by mid-September, according to Dantley Davis, Design and search on Twitter.
With a lot of smart phones now using “OLED” screens, users generally prefer dark backgrounds, which prompted many applications to launch the “dark mode” feature, including “Twitter” rendering the background dark shades of blue.
There are a number of advantages to having a full black background, especially for smartphones with OLED screens, as these screens can turn off individual pixels to display true black color when needed.
So you can save a lot of battery life because black pixels do not need to be turned on. If you spend a lot of time using Twitter, using Lights out will dramatically improve battery life.
In addition to that many users also prefer to put a whole dark to be a lot easier on the eyes of users.
