Google has launched some new tools in an effort to combat misinformation about the upcoming European elections.
Much of this effort is focused on YouTube, where Google will launch transparency marks for publishers in Europe, which expose sources of news that receive government or public funding.
According to the site Engadget, these tools were unveiled in the United States in February, but not yet reached the EU.
“Our goal here is to provide users with more information to help understand the sources of news content users choose to watch,YouTube better.” company said
Moreover, it will shed YouTube light sources such as BBC News or FranceInfo in the tab ‘Top News’ or ‘Breaking News’ in more European countries, making it easier for users to find reliable news.
Although these advantages are already available in the EU, UK, France, Germany and other countries, but Google plans to move them to other countries “in the coming weeks and months.”
