The Brazilian government has confirmed that Dengue fever has killed 591 people and cases detected in the country between January and August reached 1.5 million people, nearly 7 times higher than the same period in 2018.

According to the Spanish newspaper “Labangordia”, the Brazilian Ministry of Health confirmed that dengue fever has killed nearly 591 people, reflecting the marked increase in the number of deaths, which last year reached 139 cases.

Aedes aegypti mosquitoes are the main cause of the spread of Zika and Chikungunya cases, with 110,627 cases of Chikungunya, compared with 76,742 in the same period last year, with 57 deaths.

The Ministry of Health put the number of cases at 9,813, compared with 669 cases between January and August last year, with two confirmed deaths in 2019 due to HIV infection. The ministry added that one of the main reasons for the increase of these diseases is the high amount of rain and high temperatures recorded so far.
