Iran Atomic Energy Organization head Ali Akbar Salehi, told parliamentarians that Iran will begin its activities on Arak’s heavy-water nuclear reactor, ISNA news agency reported.

ISNA quoting a lawmaker said that heavy-water can be used inside the reactor to produce plutonium, the fuel used in nuclear explosives.

In May, Iran announced measures planned to breach nuclear agreements with the world’s top power following the US withdrawal of Washington’s treaty and action which re-imposed sanctions on Iran.

On July 3, President Hassan Rouhani said Tehran would step up its uranium enrichment level and start raising the heavy-water reactor of Arak after July 7 if member states of nuclear agreements did not protect trade with Iran as promised.
