The Taliban will not have direct talks with the Afghan government thus denoting the preliminary statement of a senior minister on plans to hold such talks over the next two weeks, Taliban senior officials said.

“Intra-Afghan negotiations will only start after the withdrawal of foreign troops is announced,” Taliban political spokesman Suhail Shaheen said in Qatar.

State security affairs minister Abdul Salam Rahimi said on Saturday that the government would be represented by 15 delegates during direct talks with the Taliban within two weeks.
