Donald Trump took on as the President of United States on January 20, 2017. He knew only one topic “America First,” which is how he would orientate himself as President, he said in his inaugural address. The people had been forgotten by the politicians in Washington, he said: While these were getting richer, were lost in the country jobs and many people have been driven into poverty. But he would fight “with every breath” for that to get better. Trump drew a picture of America that was dark and had little to do with how its predecessors had seen the country: as a role model for everyone else. His speech was so unusual that former President George W. Bush was said to have delivered the non-translation assessment.

contrary to his announcement, Trump’s term was overshadowed in the first few days by events that made it hard for the president to focus on fighting for the American people. Already on February 13 Trump’s security adviser Michael Flynn had to vacate his post because he had lied to the FBI about a conversation with the Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak. This early connection to Russia in Trump’s presidency continues to this day and employs Trump more than some state business.

The dismissal of then-FBI director James Comey on May 9, 2017, he might have been allowed to pass if he had not boasted to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov the day after that he had kicked out the “weirdo” Comey because the FBI was investigating the “Russia matter” lead. At that time, the Federal Police examined whether there had been any links between official Russian authorities and Trump’s campaign team in the election campaign. However, Trump’s statement made him seem to be obstructing the work of the judiciary.

As a result, the Ministry of Justice called the special investigator Robert Mueller, who took over this investigation and was equipped with a far-reaching mission. In addition, Trump’s Attorney General Jeff Sessions withdrew from oversight of Mueller and the Russia affair because he was among Trump’s campaign team and had also met with the Russian ambassador himself – an incident he witnessed during his Senate confirmation hearing concealed. For a year and a half, the Russian affair has been a sword of Damocles over Trump – and not only his numerous and verbose complaints on Twitter about the “witch hunt” show that he is well aware of the extent of the danger to his presidency.
