Ukraine: Poroshenko admits crushing defeat in presidential election

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko confirmed his crushing defeat to rival comedian Volodymyr Zelensky in the second round of presidential elections on Sunday.

Poroshenko said he would leave office next month but made it clear he had no intention of quitting political life.

Ukraine entered a new political stage on Sunday after a poll of voters showed they had failed to gather the votes needed to take over the presidency in a country fighting a war.
