The German car company BMW unveiled a new Face Recognition Technology (FRT), which will allow drivers to control the car with their eyes only, a high-definition camera installed in the dashboard to follow the route and his eyes to determine exactly what he is looking for – inside the car or outside.
According to the German car maker, motorists will be able to look outside the front glass of the car at the restaurants they pass to see the menu, working hours and even booking a table, even a gas station.
The technology will be available to customers in mid-2021, along with enhanced gestures and voice recognition, said the German auto manufacturer.
Dr Christoph Grote, Senior Vice President (electronics) German auto manufacturer, BMW explained that customers will be able to communicate with the connected smart car in completely natural way, stressing that this system is an important step for the future of self-driving cars. Passengers will have greater freedom.
