5 civilians killed and 7 others wounded by explosive devices in Afghanistan

Roadside bombs killed at least 5 civilians and wounded 7 others today in Afghanistan, regional officials said.

The spokesman for the governor of Helmand Province, in the south of the country, Omar Zawak, said that the five dead were traveling in their cars near the provincial capital to Shukur Gah, and added that the death toll might rise.

In a separate attack with a roadside bomb in the western state of Herat, seven women who were traveling in a large vehicle were injured, according to the state governor’s office, and no party immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks.
