Argentina started producing the “Sputnik V” vaccine, the Russian shield against Corona infection, according to a statement issued by the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the “Laboratorios Richmond” pharmaceutical company.
The statement indicated that the first batch of vaccine doses made in Argentina will be transferred to the “Jamalia” scientific center of the Russian Ministry of Health to monitor their quality, before the launch of commercial production of the Russian vaccine in the month of June.
In this regard, Argentine President Alberto Fernandez expressed his pleasure at the possibility of producing the Sputnik V, Indicating that its use in protecting the population from Corona infection has shown “great results” and Fernandez expressed his confidence that the launch of the Russian vaccine production in his country “will provide an opportunity for progress in combating the pandemic in Argentina and indeed in Latin America as a whole“.
For his part, Director-General of the Russian Fund for Direct Investments, Kirill Dmitriev, pointed out that Argentina, which was the first country in Latin America to license the use of the Russian vaccine in its territory, and also became the first country in the region to launch the production of this vaccine, thanks to the partnership between the fund and the company “Laboratorios Richmond”.
Dmitriev stated that the vaccine was licensed in 10 Latin American countries, expressing his conviction that its production in Argentina would allow the organization of its supply to “our other partners.”.
While the president of “Laboratorios Richmond”, Marcelo Figueres, said that his company is proud of the support provided to it by the Russian Fund and that the latter relies on its scientific and technical base in producing the vaccine in Argentina and affirmed that his company will make every effort to ensure the arrival of the people of Argentina to Latin America.
