Armed attack on convoy carrying Chilean ambassador in Haiti

Officials in Port-au-Prince said on Wednesday that gunmen attacked the convoy of Chile’s ambassador to Haiti, injuring two people, but the ambassador was unharmed.

Chile-based media outlet said that the gunmen opened fire at the convey of Chilean ambassador Patricio Utreras accompanied his wife.

The ambassador was on his way with other Haitian officials and charity organizations from Colombia, Chile and Mexico to inspect a project to provide clean water, which was set up on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti.


The Chilean Foreign Ministry confirmed that the security forces accompanying the Chilean ambassador were able to repel the attack, which resulted in the injury of his Haitian driver with a bullet in the wrist.
