Bangkok retains its first place in 2018, for the fourth consecutive year as the city receiving the highest number of international tourists in the world.
According to an annual report released by Mastercard yesterday, Thailand received nearly 23 million international tourists last year, beating Paris and London in second and third place, with over 19 million tourists.
Other cities on the list are Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Singapore; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; New York, United States; Istanbul, Turkey; Tokyo, Japan and Antalya, Turkey.
The report also shows an increase in international tourism, with the number of international visits increasing by 76 per cent since 2009.
According to the report, nine out of 10 cities recorded an increase in international tourists last year, compared to the previous year.
However, the number of international tourists to London, the United Kingdom decreased by four per cent.
Meanwhile, Dubai topped the list of highest spending, with total tourists spending an average of US $ 553 per day and a total of nearly US $ 31 billion a year.
It is followed by Mecca, Saudi Arabia and Bangkok, Thailand for second and third place in terms of spending.
The Global Destination Cities Report has been published since 2011 to determine the 200 cities worldwide, based on total tourist arrivals and cross-border spending.
