First US aircraft landed in Saudi Arabia after 22 years

The first United States US aircraft to reach Saudi Arabia since 1997, safely landed here with 168 pilgrims on Wednesday.

The US aircraft Miami Air flight from Ohio landed safely at King Abdulaziz International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, a spokesman for the Public Aviation Authority (GACA) said and on the airport’s Twitter account.

According to flight tracking data, the plane departed Tuesday morning from Columbus, Ohio before stopping at Gander, Nova Scotia.

The US aircraft stopped again in Shannon, Ireland and Athens in Greece before heading to its final destination, Jeddah.
