Police raided the home of former German defender of Real Madrid Christoph Metzelder following the allegations of his involvement in the distribution of child pornography.
Prosecutors in Hamburg have confirmed that there is an investigation into the 38-year-old, according to the Bild newspaper.
Metzelder is involved in coaching courses at the renowned school of sports, Hennef on the Rhine.
Investigators seized his cell phone and accompanied him back to his home in Dusseldorf before searching the premises.
During the raid, at least one laptop was taken away by the police, Metzelder has not been detained.
A Hamburg prosecutor said the 38-year-old German was suspected of distributing child pornography, including digital image recording.
German media reported that the raid was based on information provided by a Hamburg woman who allegedly had a relationship with the football star.
The woman showed 15 images of child pornography sent to her by the player using the WhatsApp app.
Christoph Metzelder played for Germany, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in his heyday.
