Hotel in holy city Makkah caught fire, no casualties reported

A hotel in Makkah, Holy city of Saudi Arabia reportedly burned. Fire incident was believed to have taken place on Monday morning.

The Gulf Daily News website reported that fire incidents occurred at 11.40 am (local time) involving a hotel, which is also part of the Jebel Omar project.

However, civil defense firemen managed to control the fire, before it destroyed the entire building.

A spokesman of Civil Defense, Major Nayef Al Sharif, said fire started from a garbage dump, before spreading to the hotel.

No casualties reported as the hotel evacuated before the fire engulfed the upper floor, authorities said
