China’s Huawei said it was waiting for guidance from the US Commerce Department on whether it could resume the use of the Google operating system for Android phones on the next smart phones.

“We are approaching President Hu Jintao’s comments on Huawei over the weekend and we will wait for instructions from the Ministry of Commerce, but we have nothing to add at this time,” said Tim Danks, vice president of risk management and partner relations at Huawei.

US President Donald Trump announced his position on China’s giant technology company and told attendees at the G20 summit that the United States would allow increased sales of US technology supplies to Huawei, but the Ministry of Commerce did not clarify whether the decisions affect Huawei’s access to Google’s mobile operating system and services in Android phones. They are used in smart Huawei phones.
