Indonesia has proposed a budget of 20.9 trillion rupees ($ 1.49 billion) to buy the Coronavirus vaccine from Sinovac, the Indonesian health minister said on Thursday.
The Indonesian government has estimated that a comprehensive vaccination campaign in the country could cost between 66 and 75 trillion rupees ($ 4.7 billion to $ 5.34 billion).
Indonesia received 3 million doses of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine, known as CoronaVac, and is scheduled to receive about 122.5 million more doses.
Last Friday, the Council of Muslim Scholars, the highest religious body in the country, gave the green light to approve this vaccine from the Sharia point of view, because it does not contain articles that are forbidden by law.
Indonesia is the country most affected by the Corona epidemic in Southeast Asia, and it hopes that the vaccine, like other countries in the world affected, will help it overcome this health crisis.
