Iran is ready to dialogue, if Saudi Arabia is also willing, Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said on Wednesday, the Iranian news agency reported.
Tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia have been mounting amid rising turmoil in West Asia, since Riyadh accused the country of raiding six oil tankers in the Gulf, but Tehran has denied.
“If Saudi Arabia is ready for dialogue, we are always ready to negotiate with our neighbors.
“We have never closed the door of dialogue with neighboring countries,” Zarif said.
Attacks on a number of oil tankers have occurred, as the United States (US), which is Saudi Arabia’s main ally, has lifted sanctions against Iran in an attempt to force it to negotiate.
The US wants more stringent restrictions on Iran’s nuclear activity and restrictions on its ballistic missile program.
