NATO decided to extend Jens Stoltenberg’s term as Secretary-General of the Alliance for another two years, making the former Norwegian prime minister one of the longest serving terms in the alliance..

Stoltenberg expressed his gratitude to the alliance on Thursday, saying that he was honored by the resolution, which was endorsed by 29 members of the alliance, which shows their confidence in it, warning on the other hand that “we face the greatest security challenges in generation and look forward to continuing to work with all allies to adapt and modernize NATO“He said.

Following this decision, Jens Stoltenberg is expected to remain Secretary-General of the Alliance until September 2022, he took office in 2014.
