Police are investigating the death threats sent to the Prime Minister of New Zealand, 38 years old Jacinda Ardern, on her social media account, NZ media outlet reports.

A tweet with firearm image accompanied by a description of the “You are next” picture sent to the Prime Minister.

Citing the Herald report, the entry was uploaded over 48 hours before the sender’s Twitter account was suspended by 4pm after being reported by various complainants.

Another tweet also shared with PM and New Zealand Police together with the same picture as the “next it’s you” picture.

It is learned that the suspended account contains anti-Islam content and hate speech from the white race.

A police spokeswoman said that the police were aware of comments shared on Twitter and were investigating.

Prime Minister’s Office and Twitter have also been contacted for more information.

According to the police, the message was received at 1.48 pm (local time) shortly after the entire country had been silent for a moment of remembrance of the terrorist attack that killed 50 innocent persons in two mosques in Christchurch.
