Russia and China on Tuesday warned that a new US missile test would accelerate military tension and risk a gun race.

The warning came weeks after the US canceled the Cold War-era arms pact with Russia.

The US and Russia have canceled the Medium-Range Nuclear Force (INF) agreement this month after accusing each other of breaching the agreement.

Washington said the agreement would prevent them from entering into agreements with major powers such as China.

The US Department of Defense announced Monday that they were testing missile launched from land and were banned under the 1987 INF agreement, which restricts the use of nuclear and conventional medium-range weapons.

“The US is clearly taking a step towards increasing military tensions. We will not respond to the provocation, ”Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told local news agency TASS.
