Samsung introduced its new S10 smartphone line to Pakistani journalists, there was an opportunity to play with the devices. Usually, you then grab the flagship for a try. But this time it was different. The “small” S10 drew attention because it can keep up with the big plus in many matters. It has the same camera with three lenses. The processor is identical, and 8 gigabytes of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory also have both models.

So, the test devices S10 and S10 + were in front of us. The S10 is flatterer, is in our hands almost perfect. The smartphone is light with 157 grams, usually be operated with one hand. This impression persists even after several days in the test. Normally, the handle to the plus versions is due to the size of the display. But the S10 comes due to the efficient screen utilization of the top on a display diagonal of 6.1 inches. These are enough for most applications.

Nevertheless, always attracted the S10+ Samsung provided us with a test device in “ceramic white”, which turns the smartphone into a successful design object. The proportions of the shapes are right, the interplay of the colors white, black and silver looks elegant, and with the 6.4-inch screen is out of the question, if he can be too small. Of course not. In addition, the battery with 4100 MilliAmp hours is generous.

So, on the first day it was the battery of the S10 that worried us. Because of the commissioning, the device is often on, many apps are loaded, the interface is adapted to their own needs, first sample photos and videos are taken. The percentage dropped faster than we were used to from the Pixel 3 XL from Google. The battery lasted a day, but for a very important date and further stress, we would have taken a power bank. The first day was an exception. Whether this is due to the battery management of Android or the changed usage behavior, it is difficult to decide. In any case, the S10 is currently half empty in the evening.

For security fanatics, there is no way around the S10 +. Its 4100 mAh battery is hard to beat in a day. The screen is huge. But we did not notice such a big difference when reading emails, websites, calendar entries that the plus would inevitably have been a product of choice. Okay, but there is a plus point: Since the front camera consists of a double lens, Selfies succeed with a best ever look. The S10 digitally calculates the blurred background, causing one or the other strand of hair to be out of focus, even though it hangs at the same depth of field as the others.

Roy Chang, Managing Director Samsung Electronics Pakistan & Afghanistan, said “Our vision is to be the leading innovator of new mobile experiences that enrich the lives of our customers. We believe that meaningful technology has the power to unleash the true human potential and that is exactly what our revolutionary S10 & S10+ has the power to do”.

Camera with super wide angle

The cameras of the S10 and S10 + are identical and they take very good pictures. But they are not so convincing in their quality that you immediately want to put other smartphones out of your hands. We compared the pictures with those of the Pixel XL 3. This smartphone has only one lens on its back, the rest is done by Google’s algorithm, which uses sharpness and contrast into the images with the help of deep-learning mechanisms. What the new S10 has and that Pixel does not get along with Artificial Intelligence is a super wide-angle lens. This captures scenes at angles up to 123 degrees.

Some of the features of the Galaxy S10 include Samsung’s best screen yet, the world’s first AMOLED display. As the first HDR10+ certified smartphone, the display delivers vivid digital content combined with dynamic tone mapping which provides a wider range of color for a brilliant, more realistic picture. Galaxy S10’s Dynamic AMOLED display is also VDE-certified for vibrant bright colors and extraordinary contrast ratio for even deeper blacks and brighter whites.

Verified by Display Mate, consumers will be able to enjoy exceptionally accurate colors on their mobile device – even in harsh sunlight. The AMOLED display also reduces blue light through its TÜV Rheinland-certified Eye Comfort display without compromising picture quality or adding a filter.

Galaxy S10’s unique Infinity-O Display packs an array of sensors and camera technology into a hole-in display – allowing the owners to maximize their screen real estate without any distractions.

The Galaxy S10’s  AMOLED display also includes the first-ever in-display Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner that reads the 3D contours of its user’s physical thumbprint – not a 2D image of it – for improved anti-spoofing. With the world’s first FIDO Alliance Biometric Component certification, this next generation biometrics authentication offers vault-like security to keep the device safe.

To cover lose ends Samsung offers its members with extra benefits

The new Galaxy S10 not only offers top of the line features to its owners but also offers exclusive benefits via the Samsung member’s app.

Question raises on why Samsung launched S10 and S10+ in Pakistan after it was released everywhere in the world?
