Thailand suspends entry visa to India amid Coronavirus surge

Thailand has announced restrictions on the issuance of entry visas to travelers from India, amid a sharp increase in Corona injuries in India.

The Thai embassy in India confirmed in a statement, according to the Thai newspaper (Bangkok Times), that entry to non-citizens from India has been banned from May 1 until further notice.

It added that three Indian Airlines flights would be allowed to land in Thailand to evacuate stranded citizens during May.

Thailand’s decision came as part of the country’s efforts to curb the outbreak of the third wave of the virus.

India had recorded a record number of coronavirus infections for the fifth consecutive day; Today, Monday, 352,991 infections were recorded, and the total number of infections in the country exceeded 17 million, while the death toll exceeded 195,000 deaths.

Today, Thailand recorded two thousand and 48 new cases of the virus, bringing the total number of infection in the country to 57,508 cases
