The Pontifical Vicariate expressed sorrow and shock at the fire that broke out in Paris’ historic Notre Dame Cathedral, describing the cathedral as “a symbol of Christianity in France and the whole world.”

The press office of the Vatican reported that the officials in solidarity with the Catholics in France and the people of Paris, stressing that Vatican officials are praying for all the people who are doing everything in their power to deal with this tragic situation.
