At the annual marketing summit in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Facebook said this week that WhatsApp will start displaying Ads in the status bar.
Starting next year, a feature to be named Status Ads, Similar to the way in which ads have been shown within Instagram stories since January 2017.
WhatsApp ads will run the entire screen, and users will be able to get more information by clicking on a link, as with Instagram. The status feature in WhatsApp allows users to post photos and videos, which disappear after 24 hours.
Facebook stressed that the ads will not weaken the encryption from party to party, and will not affect the protection of user data.
